Stories are better multiplayer

As stories proliferate, the most engaging narratives are where worlds collide. Imagine a group of characters coming together to tell a story; forging their common lore or their official canon together. Think: crossover episode meets choose your own adventure.

NFTs allow us to experiment with new forms of this story telling:
  • Shared: Building a universe together
  • Decentralized: People can tell stories in different pockets of the universe and even have them intersect
  • Continuity: There can be persistence what happens in one story arc can be carried into other stories and across other media formats that the stories are released in (e.g. comics, games, shows, art)
  • Permissionless: Anyone can a story; one from their perspective

We’re seeing people commission artworks with their characters and friends; a snapshot of a story they are in. We even have exciting projects that are storytelling at a larger scale, like Jenkins the Valet:
  • Story: This bored ape is the head valet at the Bored Ape Yacht Club after coming from humble roots. When he’s not parking yachts, he’s getting into all kinds of trouble doing missions for the patrons. He’s writing a tell-all about his adventures (and has even shared some early stories).
  • 50% of net profits from book sales will be split amongst all licensors (membership token holders + apes/mutants licensed)

Jenkins is but one project telling the stories with just one PFP community. There are a lot of stories that are yet to be told. Today, the barriers to tell these collaborative stories are still high.
We believe that if we can lower the barriers, the more stories will proliferate and cross pollinate. The aim here is to seed the birth of the storyverse with a single pocket universe that’s designed to spawn 1000s more.
